Internal intensive care
Medical intensive care focuses on optimising extracorporeal systems. Investigations into the incidence and prevention of clinical complications, in particular coagulation disorders and thromboembolic events, are complemented by basic research into the biocompatibility of modern ECMO systems. In the clinical area, research groups are investigating the long-term use of lung support systems. The identification of early predictive markers for neurological recovery after resuscitation under ECPR is another focus of a working group.
