Treatment of age-related macular degeneration

Age-related macular degeneration, or AMD for short, is a disease that has come to the fore over the last 30 years as a cause of visual impairment in older people. It currently affects around 20 to 25 million people worldwide. The progressive disease can lead to loss of central visual acuity and even blindness. Research into therapies for AMD is therefore being conducted worldwide.

Therapy

We offer the latest and established treatment methods in our clinic: laser treatment, photodynamic therapy, intravitreal injections and surgical interventions. Experimental treatment approaches are also used in studies: e.g. the combination of photodynamic therapy and intravitreal injections. At the same time, we offer comprehensive counselling and fitting of visual aids in our outpatient clinic for magnifying visual aids.
