Internal Medicine I

Emergency and intensive care

Emergency department

The emergency department is the first port of call for emergencies. Our interdisciplinary team of doctors from internal medicine I and surgery provides round-the-clock care for emergency patients. High-quality technical equipment and a highly specialised team ensure rapid diagnosis, professional emergency care and a sensitive approach to anxiety and concern.

Waiting times

Our aim is to save you long waiting times. However, we always give priority to patients with life-threatening illnesses. We ask for your understanding of this medical urgency. The safety of all our patients is always our first priority.

More information

  • You will find more information about the emergency department on the web pages of the Emergency department.
  • Further information can be found on the emergency care web page.

Intensive care unit

Our intensive care units are equipped to the latest medical and technical standards.

Focus on people

We place particular emphasis on the human aspects of intensive care medicine, which is characterised by a large number of devices. We maintain contact with our patients and their families and take their concerns and fears seriously - as well as their wishes and expectations.

The best level of care

In intensive care medicine, we also cooperate with many other specialist disciplines at our hospital and offer all the treatment and therapy methods required for modern internal intensive care therapy. As a result, the treatment spectrum for the patients we care for ranges from post-interventional monitoring to maximally invasive intensive therapy for multiple organ failure.

    • acute, necrotising pancreatitis with the option of interventional drainage
    • severe liver disease up to acute liver failure and preparation for liver transplantation in interdisciplinary collaboration
    • severe gastrointestinal bleeding
    • severe infectious diseases that may require isolation, including severe courses of tropical diseases
    • sepsis and SIRS, including all organ complications such as septic shock, consumption coagulopathy, renal failure and ARDS
    • severe metabolic disorders
    • severe episodes of autoimmune diseases and
    • life-threatening intoxications.
