Dialysis
Our dialysis ward 16 has 14 places for in-patients and day patients who can be treated in two shifts, six days a week (Mon-Sat) on state-of-the-art dialysis machines using haemodialysis or haemodiafiltration. Each dialysis unit can be monitored centrally. Physical isolation is used to prevent colonisation with so-called hospital pathogens or other relevant infectious diseases.
Treatment methods
In addition to standard dialysis methods (HD, HDF), the Genius system can also be used for heparin-free citrate dialysis and SLED dialysis (slow extended dialysis). Plasma exchange and other apheresis procedures are also possible.
Shunt dialysis
If required, shunt punctures can be performed at any time under ultrasound guidance. In the event of dialysis access problems, close collaboration with the vascular surgery and radiology departments enables rapid diagnosis and intervention around the clock. The certification as an interdisciplinary regional shunt centre (DGfN, DGA, DGG, DGIR) is in preparation.
Dialysis patients who, for clinical reasons, need to be treated in one of our seven intensive care or intermediate care units (IMC) also receive their dialysis treatment there. Remote shunt dialysis is also available.
Peritoneal dialysis
All peritoneal dialysis patients who are hospitalised at UKR receive dialysis care from us and are given all the information they need.
Always available for emergencies
Doctors and nurses are always on call (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) to provide dialysis treatment outside normal working hours if required.
