Aesthetic and reconstructive facial surgery
Scar correction
We are highly qualified to correct scars, especially on the face: we can move them, replace them with fine scars or polish them.
The correction of skin scars requires a great deal of experience. Scars can differ in width, length, colour, elevation, firmness and other characteristics from the surrounding tissue and thus become visible.
Suitable methods for scar correction:
- Surgical techniques allow us to move scars to less conspicuous areas.
- We can remove scars and replace them with a finer scar.
- We can polish and treat scars using various procedures.
Both the choice of procedure and the timing of treatment require a high degree of experience. It is often advisable to wait until the scar is no longer inflamed after a surgery - usually after a year. However, we can also use certain procedures in earlier healing phases, for example after six weeks.
Botox to immobilise the facial muscles
In the face, the activity of the facial muscles can have a negative influence on the healing of skin wounds. Especially in areas with pronounced facial expressions such as the forehead, cheek and mouth, healing and scarring can be disturbed by muscle tension.
A drug (botox) can be used to weaken the muscles for a period of around two months. Just like a broken arm that is immobilised in plaster, a facial wound can also be immobilised in this way and thus heal better. Our experienced surgeons routinely use this treatment in our clinic. This should be done as early as possible. If a wound is older than four weeks, the therapeutic effect of botox on scarring decreases.
Corrections of tattoos
We can also correct tattoos in our clinic. Our colleagues at the Clinic and Polyclinic for Dermatology are primarily responsible for this.
